New Year's Eve Celebrations

31st December

London's New Year's Eve programme of events generally commences at 20:00 and peaks with a tremendous firework display on the banks of the River Thames to welcome in the New Year.

For those wishing to view the fireworks, there are generally good vantage points by Waterloo and Westminster Bridge, although if you can see the London Eye you should be able to see the fireworks. Since the streets can get very busy, you probably want to aim to be at your chosen vantage point by around 23:00.

Alternatively, Trafalgar Square is traditionally a place for revellers with giant screens relaying events from across London and all around the world.

Take note of information from the London Underground, as many tube stations may close as early as 20:00.

Alcohol is permitted, although glass bottles are not.
