Trooping the Colour

Saturday mid Jun

Also known as the Queen's Birthday Parade, the Trooping of the Colour has marked the official birthday of the Sovereign since 1748, when it was first performed for Charles II and is held at Horse Guards Parade.

Trooping the Colour allows the Household Division pay tribute to the sovereign with displays from arguably the finest and most prestigious military bands in the world.

The original purpose was to display each regiment's colours (or flags), which were once used as rallying points during battle and so it was important for the various regiments to recognise each other's colours. If you're in London in June, you simply cannot afford to miss this historic event.
