Wimbledon Tennis Championships
Wimbledon is the oldest and most prestigious major tennis championship and is now the only Grand Slam event played on grass.
The event receives worldwide media coverage and is often attended by members of the Royal Family.
Strawberries and Cream play an important role as the traditional summer sweetener at Wimbledon and can be accompanied by an optional glass of champagne or Pimm's.
The majority of Centre Court, Court 1 and Court 2 tickets are sold in advance via a public ballot and entries are drawn at random by a computer. However, fans without tickets can still queue for a limited number of seats on Centre Court, Court 1 and Court 2, although be advised many fans are happy to camp out the night before in order to get tickets. Expect to pay between £30 and £70.
Alternatively, you can still get unreserved seating or standing tickets on the day for Courts 3 -19 for between £5 and £20.
Fans without tickets wishing to see some Centre Court action should head for 'Henman Hill', where they will find a huge TV screen showing current matches. In the event of the slightest British success expect huge crowds and a much livelier crowd.
Overland trains depart from London Waterloo to Wimbledon Station every 5 minutes or so, although you can also opt to take the Tube on the District Line. Do not attempt to drive - apart from the traffic you will not find anywhere to park.
