iPhone FAQs
When designing our the iPhone version of our software we have made every effort to ensure that it is user friendly and conforms to any relevant standards or guidelines set out by Apple before putting it through a variety of tests. You should find our iPhone web application simply works although to help deal with any difficulties you may be experiencing please find below a list of troubleshooting tips and answers to any technical FAQ's.
Q. How do I download the London Travel Guide for iPhone?
A. Currently the iPhone version of the London Travel Guide
is a web-based application which means it works within the safari browser
of your iPhone. This is how Apple has recommended all iPhone applications to be built.
Q. Will you be releasing a downloadable / native version of the guide?
A. Yes! Apple is due to release the necessary information that we need to
make a downloadable version of the guide very soon.
Q. Do I need to "Jail Break" my iPhone to use the London Travel Guide?
A. Absolutely not. The London Travel Guide will work like any other website.
Q. I have seen other people with a Union Jack Bookmark on their iPod how
do I get that?
A. Simple. Just navigate to LondonTravelGuide.com and tap the "+" icon
that appears in the bottom navigation bar of your iPod. Then select "Add to Home Screen".
Q. The video takes a long time to download over edge?
A. We have taken the decision not to compress the video down to the level
which enables quick downloads over edge. The reason for this is that we didn't believe the
very low resolution video did London's architecture any justice! So we took the decision
only to include higher resolution videos that give a much clearer picture on your iPhone.
Nothing beats seeing London for yourself though!
Q. Google Maps seems confused with what districts certain landmarks are in.
For example, it says Buckingham Palace is in Camberwell?
A. Whilst Google Maps is a great addition to the iPhone and iPod touch,
it isn't the most accurate of mapping systems and so to ensure that the information you
are given from our guide is as accurate as possible, we have entered the exact co-ordinates
of every landmark featured to ensure that where the red pins lands is exactly where that
landmark is. So, you can be sure that the locations shown are correct although for some
unknown reason, Google Maps may incorrectly name the landmarks district.
