BT Tower / Telecom Tower

First opened in 1965, the BT Tower was originally named the Post Office Tower and built to provide telecommunications links throughout the country.

Whilst the rotating restaurant on the 34th floor affords some fantastic views and would make a great place to dine, the Tower has not been open to the public for over 20 years following a bomb explosion.

The BT Tower is included in this guide purely for its prominent position on the London skyline and it is only since 1993 that the tower has appeared on any maps, since it was previously an official secret and did not "exist"!
