Museum of London
Located close to the Barbican Centre and a short walk north of St Paul's Cathedral, the Museum of London traces the city's history from the prehistoric to the present day.
There are some great pieces of London's history on display here, from Bronze Age swords dredged from the River Thames, right through to the Lord Mayor's Coach, which is still used today in the Lord Mayor's Parade. The London's Burning Gallery covers the story of the Great Fire of London in 1666 with a fine audio and visual representation.
The Museum is undergoing major renovations until 2009 and so during this time you may wish to call prior to any visit and establish which parts of the Museum are open.
