Regents Park

Situated approximately one mile north of Hyde Park, the 410 acres of Regent's Park were, like many other parks in London, originally established for hunting. Today the Park is used extensively for public sporting activities and is also home to London Zoo.

In winter, 10 football and two full-size rugby pitches are available to hire, which are replaced by four cricket and 18 softball pitches in the summer. In addition to this the Park has an athletics track, netball and tennis courts, with changing facilities available at 'The Hub'.

For those who prefer a little more relaxed activity, why not hire a rowing boat and take to the lake? Available from April to September, there is also a Children's Boating Pond with pedal boats.

An open air theatre is open from June to September, which along with their signature piece of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', stages four other plays and sometimes music and comedy evenings. There are morning, afternoon and evening performances and a buffet, bar and evening BBQ, although you may bring your own picnic and drink. Pre-book one of the 1,200 seats or purchase a ticket to watch from the grass banks on the day of the performance.

Whilst London Zoo is a great place to get acquainted with some animals, the Park also has a wide range of wildlife including swans, cormorants, kestrels and ducks and some well-landscaped gardens.

London Central Mosque lies to the east of the park, its Gold Dome a prominent landmark in the area, whilst, also to the east, is Lord's Cricket Ground.

Refreshments are available from several cafes and restaurants throughout the park.
