The Zetter
This converted warehouse in the heart of Clerkenwell has been attracting travellers in search of stylish, affordable accommodation ever since it opened in 2004.
There are 59 rooms, all featuring sleek upholstery, cool mood lighting and in-room entertainment systems with a digital music library featuring over 4,000 tracks, as well as CD/DVD players and flat screen TVs. Nice little touches, such as hot-water bottles, old Penguin paperbacks and coffee and tea-making facilities, add a homely feel.
The rooftop studios are well worth splashing out on, as they offer more space, and a balcony with City views. There are also two meeting rooms and wireless Internet connection, as well as in-room spa and salon treatments.
Vending machines on each floor have replaced minibars, and there is 24-hour room service too.
The popular restaurant, which serves modern Mediterranean food, occupies most of the ground floor and looks onto St John's Square through floor-to-ceiling windows.
