Matsuri High Holborn does feature the obligatory sushi bar, yes, but the real action takes place downstairs in the Teppan-Yaki room, where expert chefs prepare flavoursome dishes on a hot plate right in front of customers.
The entertainment factor is huge (order the fireball ice cream and you'll see why), the set-up makes for convivial eating, and the prices are more reasonable than one might expect.
Given the length and breadth of the menu, it's hard to single out individual dishes for praise, but various set menus are a good choice for those wishing to sample a variety of Japanese specialities, including sushi, sashimi, tempura and teriyaki.
